Computer Science Major

USP’s bachelor’s degree in computer science prepares you for the challenges of advanced graduate training and/or professional work in the cutting-edge areas of modern business, research, and healthcare. We provide you with individualized training and mentoring in a technology-rich learning environment, with two track options:

Computing Technology Track

This academic track prepares you with a foundation in basic and advanced areas of computer and information science. The foundations of mathematics and statistics are emphasized in addition to the traditional computer science curriculum. We also highlight Web-based programming and data management in a computer network environment. You’ll conduct a capstone research-based computer science project in your senior year.     

Medical Informatics Track

This unique academic track combines a strong background in biology and clinical medicine with the advanced knowledge and skills of computer science and information technology. Practical aspects of technology management in modern healthcare systems are emphasized. USP combines the best in healthcare education and computer technology to give you the training to be successful in the rapidly growing area of medical informatics.
