Slate of Candidates

The Nominations Committee and the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association are pleased to present what we consider to be an excellent slate of candidates for officers and directors on the Alumni Association Board. Thank you.

President-Elect (2 year term; unopposed, no vote necessary)

Hong Jin NaHong Jin Na, Ph/Tx ‘92, BW’01

Hong Jin Na, MS is Senior Manager, US Medical Education for Teva Pharmaceuticals and oversees U.S. Oncology, Respiratory, CNS, and Pain independent medical education strategies and supervises the end-to-end management of all medical education grant proposals for those therapeutic areas.

Known by his friends and colleagues as “Jin”, he has over 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical & medical education industries. Jin recently consulted for Sanofi U.S. Grant Operations and developed U.S. independent medical education strategy for the immunology and inflammation franchise and oversaw grant operations for the Sanofi/Regeneron joint venture. Jin also managed global promotional medical education at Merck, where he oversaw promotional medical education for the oncology, neuropsychiatry, and ophthalmics business franchises. Additionally, Jin held the position of Manager, Education Strategy at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where he directed independent medical education strategies for the hemophilia, hematology, oncology, transplantation, and depression/anxiety groups.

He also holds a Certificate in Paralegal Education from Villanova University (1999) and is an active member of the University of the Sciences Alumni Association and serves on its Board of Directors. In September 2008, Jin passed the examination as a Certified Continuing Medical Education Professional (CCMEP) by the National Commission for Certification of CME Professionals (NC-CME).

Vice President (2 year term; 1 to be elected)

Victoria Rehill Elliott P’89, MBA, CAEVictoria Rehill Elliott P’87, MBA, CAE

Ms. Elliott is the Allied Health Segment Leader at Association Headquarters, where she serves as Executive Director of the American Neurological Association. Prior to that she served as Executive Director of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association, Attention Deficit Disorder Association and the Society For Biomaterials. Before joining Association Headquarters, Ms. Elliott served for eight years as the Executive Vice President of the Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists. While with the PSHP, she was also responsible for the operations of the society's education and research foundation, the Center for Proper Medication Use.

In addition to her role as Segment Leader and Executive Director, Elliott is a trained facilitator for the American Society of Association Executives’ (ASAE) University Certificate Program in Association Management.

Ms. Elliott is a Past President of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE) and the Delaware Valley Society of Association Executives. She is also a member of the ASAE.

In 2003, she received her Certified Association Executive designation, the highest honor in the association management industry. In 2013, Ms. Elliott received the MASAE Service Award for her distinguished service to the Association. She currently serves as Secretary on the board of the Alumni Association of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Ms. Elliott resides in Yardley, PA, with her husband Michael F. Elliott, CPA and her sons, Nicholas, 18, and Andrew, 16.

Rosemarie O’Malley Halt P’89, MPH’12Rosemarie O’Malley Halt P’89, MPH’12

Ms. Halt is a registered pharmacist currently employed as health policy consultant for Maternity Care Coalition in Philadelphia as well as USciences adjunct faculty in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. She has also served on the USciences alumni board and on numerous alumni committees since 1989, and currently serves as Alumni Association Treasurer. She currently serves on the Mayes College Health Policy and Public Health Community Advisory Board.

Ms. Halt has served as the chairwoman of the Delaware County Pharmacists Association, and is an active member of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association previously serving as Southeast Regional Director and Speaker of the House. 

Ms. Halt serves on a number of non-profit boards including Maternity Care Coalition in Philadelphia, Rotary Club of Media, The Media Rotary Foundation, the Central Delaware County League of Women Voters and Hands for Life Sierra Leone. 

She is the recipient of the 2000 USciences Young Alumnus Award and the 2009 Wyeth Bowl of Hygeia Award for outstanding community service.

Ms. Halt resides in Media, Delaware County with her husband Gerald and their three children.

Pharmacy Directors (3 year terms; Five to be elected)

Elizabeth A. FuscoElizabeth A. Fusco P’63
Ms. Fusco retired from SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals as manager, formula administration, Q.A. in 1999. She served as an alumni representative on the Board of Trustees for six years having been active in the USciences Alumni Association for more than 30 years. Her many contributions to the Association include providing able leadership as president from 1995 to 1997. In 2001, Ms. Fusco was the recipient of the Ivor Griffith Service Award.

Christine Secula JumpChristine Secula Jump P’74

Ms. Jump has 40 years experience is various areas of pharmacy practice settings including a Residency in Hospital Pharmacy, staff positions at Massachusetts General and Greenwich Hospitals and experience as a Clinical Research Associate at Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation. In addition, she spent 5 years on the faculty of PCP as an instructor in pharmacy practice and the past 20 years in Long Term Care. She is a member of the American Pharmacists Association, Bucks County Pharmacists Association, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and is a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist. Chris has been active in the Alumni Association since 2004 having served on the Reunion Committee as co-chair and chair for 5 years and as a member of the Awards committee. She now works with Cornerstone Regulatory, LLC, as board member and chief financial officer.

Virginia Athanas Markos P’87, MBAJeanette Litts P’78
Ms. Litts has been a member of the General Board of Directors for the past several years and co-chair of the Student Relations Committee. Jeanette is also a preceptor for PCP Advanced Pharmacy Education Experience students at two clinic sites in Philadelphia. As a member of the PCPS class of 1978, she would like to continue her activities for the Alumni Association. Ms. Litts feels that one of the most important things you can do as a graduate of this school is to mentor our students and contribute to the rich tradition of University of the Sciences.

Cornelius (Neil) D. Pitts P’73, PharmD’04Stacy M. Rosemarin, P'83
As USciences Director of Alumni Relations from 1999 to 2008, Ms. Rosemarin hosted many events, both local and regional. Her enthusiasm and pride in her alma mater allowed her to focus on many new initiatives at the University and significantly increased the number of alumni volunteers, the ground work for many successful programs. She is also an accomplished abstract painter. Stacy is very excited to reconnect with the University and the Alumni Association. Currently, Ms. Rosemarin is a Consultant Pharmacist for Pharma-Care Inc. in NJ.

Leo Ross P’73, MBALeo Ross P’73, MBA
Mr. Ross received his B.S. degree in Pharmacy in 1973 from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and a MBA degree in 1985 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Mr. Ross currently works as a staff pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy and as a volunteer pharmacist at Crossoverministry Free Clinic in Richmond, VA. He previously worked at A.H. Robins/Wyeth as a research pharmacist and manager of pharmacy respectively for 24 years. Leo is a member of the Virginia Pharmacists Association, American Pharmacists Association (APhA), National Pharmaceutical Association, National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

Mr. Ross is a past member of the Virginia board of health, past chairman and member of the Virginia board of pharmacy. He is the 2013 recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia Award and a sponsor of the dinner for the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy students at the annual APhA convention. He served on the 2008 NABP task force on Prescription Drug Labeling.

Directors, Programs other than Pharmacy (3 year terms; Two to be elected)

Timothy BowersTimothy Bowers, MT ’02, MHP ‘08
Mr. Bowers is the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Inspira Health Network in Vineland, NJ. His volunteer positions include the Veterans Health Administration Mid Atlantic Infection Control Council co-chair, Director of Records for the Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) for the South Jersey chapter and a member of the national APIC Communication Committee. The Inspira Infection Prevention program covers 3 medical centers, and more than 60 outpatient facilities across three counties in southern NJ. Previously he worked as an Infection Control Practitioner at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center as well as at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the Clinical Microbiology and Virology Department. Tim is a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and is certified by the Certifying Board for Infection Control. Tim has been involved in the Alumni Association since 2002. Tim was elected to the Board of Directors multiple times. He served on the Reunion Committee as a member and a Co-Chair and also served on the Nominations committee.

Stacey GorskiStacey Gorski B’08, PhD
Following graduating from USciences, Stacey went on to get her Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia. She worked in Adelaide, Australia for Vaxine Pty. Ltd., a vaccine manufacturer specializing in adjuvant (the immune stimulating agent in vaccines) design and efficacy and then moved into academics when she began teaching at Hampden-Sydney College in central Virginia. Dr. Gorski then joined the faculty of USciences as an assistant professor in 2014. She is a member of the American Association of Immunologists and maintains an active interest in vaccine design, specifically in regards to influenza.

Joan MillerJoan Miller MPH’13, CPhT
Ms. Miller has over seven years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and has maintained her national certification as a pharmacy technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) since 2008. Since gaining her graduate degree in Public Health from Mayes College, Joan has done some environmental health research and consulting work for the Physicians for Social Responsibility on proper medication disposal and pharmaceuticals in the water. She currently works as adjunct faculty at University of the Sciences in Mayes College teaching HE740: The Environment and Human Health, a graduate-level introductory environmental health course. Joan is currently the co-chair of the Department of Health Policy and Public Health's Community Advisory Board, and is a resident of West Philadelphia.
