Summers Named CACC Baseball Rookie of the Week
New Haven- Conn. (3/10/08) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia baseball player Tim Summers (Urbana High School/Monrovia, Md.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Rookie of the Week for his performance the week ending March 9, 2008.
Summers, a 6’2” freshman right handed pitcher, appeared in two games in relief for the Devils, earning his second win of the season against Stonehill College. For the week, Summers recorded a team-best earned run average of 3.86
Entering the Stonehill game in relief, Summers pitched four innings of relief, facing just one above the minimum as he allowed no hits or runs to pick up his second relief win of the season.
Summers also pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief against Saginaw Valley State, giving up two earned runs.
The former Urbana High School athlete is in his first season of play for the Devils. Summers currently leads the team in earned run average (1.59) and wins (2-0). He is second on the team in appearances with four and innings pitched (11.1).
Summers is a pharmacology/toxicology major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
