Puschak Named CACC Volleyball Rookie of the Week
PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 24, 2007) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia freshman volleyball player Christine Puschak (Conestoga Valley High School/Leola, Pa.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 23, 2007.
Puschak averaged 4.11 kills, 1.44 aces and 0.89 blocks per game, leading the Devils to a perfect 3-0 record on the week as the Devils evened their overall record at 7-7 and moved to 2-2 in CACC games. The Devils did not lose a game in their three matches.
Opening the week against Chestnut Hill College on Thursday, Puschak recorded 11 kills in 13 attack attempts with just one error for an attack percentage of 76.9%. Christine added five blocks and four aces as the Devils defeated the Griffins, 3-0.
On Saturday, Puschak led the Devils to a 3-0 win against Felician, recording 14 kills on 27 attempts with just two attack errors for a hitting percentage of 42.7%. The freshman middle hitter added a career-high seven aces and recorded two blocks.
Puschak closed out the weekend with 12 kills, two aces and two blocks as the Devils defeated Chowan University 3-0.
For the week, Puschak recorded 37 kills in 64 attempts with just five errors for an amazing hitting percentage of 50.0%. Christine added 13 aces and eight blocks.
Puschak currently leads the Devils in kills (167), kills per game (3.21), service aces (36), aces/game (0.69) and attack % (.297). She is second on the team in total blocks (44) and blocks/game (0.85).
The former Conestoga Valley High School middle hitter is in her first season of play for the Devils. Puschak is a Pharmacy major at USP, pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
