Department of Biological Sciences

Biology is unique among the natural sciences because it is a broad foundational discipline. A degree in biology can be the gateway to a career in any of numerous diverse industries as technological advances open up opportunities in new directions. It also provides outstanding preparation for further study at medical or veterinary school.

The Department of Biological Sciences is the home of USP’s undergraduate majors in biologyenvironmental science and microbiology, and minors in biology and microbiology. With nearly 20 full-time faculty members, small classes and labs and study pods in the state-of-the-art McNeil Science and Technology Center, you’ll have daily interaction with your professors, allowing you to learn both inside and outside the classroom.

The Department of Biological Sciences at USP offers many opportunities to do primary investigative research early in your undergraduate program, research that leads to publication and presentations at national meetings.  And because we were founded with a scientific focus and maintain that focus today, we know how to educate scientists.
