The Hepatitis Treatment, Research and Education Center (HepTREC) and The Consortium, Inc. shared findings from their recently completed Hepatitis C (HCV) project at USciences on June 12. Discussion centered on Consortium programming and the outcome of the project to provide HCV-related education and clinical support for Consortium clients and staff members.

The recently completed education, counseling and care coordination project provided relevant and timely insight relating to HCV.

Consortium’s Lana Watkins, board liaison and marketing director, and Erica Edward MSW, health services researcher, were stationed for questions and to provide information and hand-outs on all things Hepatitis.

HepTREC, an education research and service center at USciences, was initially founded as a community-based not-for-profit organization in 2002. HepTREC moved into the University in 2009 and in its new university home, the organization benefits from USciences’ infrastructure, enthusiasm and participation of students, faculty, and staff. HepTREC works with community, government, and academic institutions to achieve its mission, “to reduce the impact of viral hepatitis.”
