Michael Rossano Named Executive Director of Public Safety

Michael Rossano was named executive director of public safety at University of the Sciences. Most recently, Rossano was director of public safety at Franklin & Marshall College where he emphasized safety as a shared responsibility of students, faculty, and the community.

Prior to working in higher education, Rossano was a Philadelphia Police detective assigned to the Major Crimes Unit, where he was cross-designated as a special deputy U.S. marshal in the FBI Violent/Drug Gang Task Force. He was also a detective for the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) for the Philadelphia Police Department’s South Division.

Rossano currently serves as adjunct professor of criminal justice and public policy at Chestnut Hill College in the evenings. He is also senior investigator at Chenega Global Services.

A Philadelphia-native, he holds a bachelor of science in criminal justice degree from Chestnut Hill College. He received his master of science in public safety from Saint Joseph’s University. Rossano was certified by the Wharton/ASIS Program for Security Executives. He originally studied jazz performance at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and continues to play saxophone.
