Dr. Andrew Peterson will begin contributing to the journal American Health & Drug Benefits (AHDB) as part of a campaign to revamp the four-year-old publication. Similar to medical journals like The American Journal of Managed Care and the Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy, AHDB focuses on the issues surrounding pharmacy and managed care environments. With the ever changing world of healthcare benefits, AHDB considers each stakeholder in the medical profession. The journal aims to stimulate conversation between decision-makers about creating a drug benefit for the population.

Editor-in-Chief David Nash approached Dr. Peterson to apply his experience and expertise in managed markets and policymaking as well as his role as the dean of Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy to the journal. Nash invited new members with extensive backgrounds to join the current editorial board to enhance the publication.

“I’m honored to be invited to the editorial board. I think it’s a great opportunity for Mayes College. There are some good opportunities for our faculty and our students to be contributors to this,” said Dr. Peterson, who encourages students and colleagues at USciences to get involved in AHDB by contributing their research.

American Health & Drug Benefits has a readership of nearly 30,000 and contains articles covering reports of original research; original clinical observations with analysis and discussion; analysis of philosophical, ethical, or social aspects of health professions/biomedical science; critical reviews; statistical compilations; descriptions of evaluation of methods or procedures; and case reports with discussions.
