The University’s Exercise Science and Wellness Management program has received full 10-year national accreditation by the National Wellness Institute Council on Wellness Accreditation and Education. This recognition signifies that this program has met high standards of quality and integrity set forth by the National Wellness Institute. The program earned its provisional accreditation in 2011.
“We are very proud of this achievement as it ensures that our program meets national standards of quality and relevance to the health and wellness professions,” said Karin Richards, acting chair of the Department of Kinesiology and program director of Health Sciences.
Combining health promotion, scientific research, and business education, the Exercise Science and Wellness Management program gives students the skills to help direct people toward healthier lifestyles. In particularly, the program integrates classroom knowledge and fieldwork assignments to give students real-world experiences as they are required to complete a two-semester, hands-on practicum in a sport, fitness, health, or recreation setting of their choice.
Because this field is a fast-growing, dynamic discipline, degree holders have a variety of career path and advanced-degree options.
