“Walgreens, for many years, has shown a strong commitment to support programs and initiatives which foster diversity and inclusion within the pharmacy profession and the communities they serve,” stated Dr. Laura Mandos, associate dean of student affairs and administration for PCP. “Since 2008, the Walgreens Company has donated over $1 million annually to support diversity initiatives at schools and colleges of pharmacy.”
USciences uses this funding for scholarships, project development that enhances enrollment programs, supporting internships, such as the Bridging the Gaps Program, and specialized programming, including the University of Utah School of Alcohol and Drug Dependence. The funding is also used to support student chapters of pharmacy professional organizations. To ensure continued funding, USciences’ Department of Pharmacy annually reports to the company outlining everything the funding was used for throughout the previous year.
