Dr. Peter T. Hoffer, professor of german, has been selected to receive a Distinguished Educator Award for 2013 from the International Forum for Psychoanalytic Education. Each year IFPE honors individuals who they believe have made significant contributions to psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic education.
Dr. Hoffer is the first translator to receive this award. He was singled out for notable contributions to the field, not only in his translation of the Freud/Ferenczi Correspondence, and his translation of Freud’s Phylogenetic Fantasy, but also in his writings on the history of psychoanalysis.
In 1998, IFPE inaugurated the Distinguished Psychoanalytic Educator Award for outstanding contributions to psychoanalytic education. Each year IFPE may choose to recognize several deserving recipients who have distinguished themselves in educating candidates and students of psychoanalysis in clinical and academic settings representing the broadest possible array of psychoanalytic knowledge.
Dr. Hoffer will be honored at the 24th Annual Interdisciplinary Conference to be held in Philadelphia from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, 2013.
