John Nikelly#,
• Appointed member of jury for Young Investigator
Award, international in scope, administered annually by the American
Chemical Society, Subdivision of Chromatography and Separations
Chemistry.
• Recognized by American Chemical Society
Council for six years of outstanding service as a member of the
committee on divisional activities, noting that he was asked to
serve one year past the six-year limit.
• Appointed by American Chemical Society
president to council committee on membership affairs and to the
subcommittee on membership acquisition and retention.
Lois Peck#, Reynold Verret# received funding
from the United States Department of Education to develop and
present a Summer Institute for Middle Grade Science Teachers.
Teachers from the School District of Philadelphia will participate
in an intensive inquiry-based program designed and delivered by
Lois H. Peck, director, and with Catherine Bentzley, Amani Gandour,
Amy Kimchuk, and Catherine Purzycki as instructors. The program
begins June 28 and will finish on July 27.
Roy Robson# has been elected to the executive
committee of the Southern Conference on Slavic Studies, the largest
regional Slavic association in the United States. He has just
finished serving two terms as program chair of the Annual Meeting.
