Visiting Researcher from Italy to Serve as 2008 Glasser Visiting Professor
Dr. Pier Giorgio Righetti
of Milan’s Polytechnic Institute (Italy) will serve as the 2008
Glasser Visiting Professor from Saturday, Oct. 25 through Friday,
Oct. 31. He will lecture three times on campus. (read

McEwen Named First Houghton Chair in Chemistry and Biochemistry
recognized chemist Dr. Charles N. McEwen has joined the University as

Grant Helps Grad Student Carrie Waterman to ASP Meeting in Athens
Thanks in part to travel grant from The American Society of Pharmacognosy,
graduate student Carrie Waterman PhD PhCog'11 was in Athens, Greece, for
the 7th Joint Meeting of The American Society of Pharmacognosy. (read
John M. Fischer P’74, PharmD’75 (MS’79,
University of Pittsburgh) completed an Ironman triathlon (2.4 mile
swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run) in 11 hours 29 minutes
in Panama City, FL in November 2007. He placed 664th out of 2,184
people who finished the race.
S. Scott Wisnewski P’82 (PharmD’91,
University of Georgia) was appointed the director of experiential
education and adjunct assistant professor at the Northeastern Ohio
Universities College of Pharmacy. He lives in Uniontown, OH with
his wife Diana and their daughter Joanna, a college senior.
Melissa A. Wilson BC’94 (PhD’99,
Georgetown University) graduated from Thomas Jefferson University
with an MD degree on May 30, 2008. She is doing her internal medicine
residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Stacy (Manning) Cariello MOT’02
Cariello PH/TX/01, PharmD’03 announced the birth
of daughter Leigh Nicole. She was born on December 31, 2007 at
3:48 AM. Justin D. Boyden PharmD’06 is the
baby’s godfather. The Cariello family lives in Levittown,

A. Hussar P'62, MS ’64, PhD 67 joined
Bob Spera P’88; Ruth Brown, P’71, BW’06; Robin Keyack
P’82, president-elect of the USP Alumni Association; Jill Grossenbacher
Huzinec P’81; and Jennifer Tomaine Smedley P’80 at the convocation
ceremony on August 22 to welcome this year’s new students. In addition
to all of these alumni being Legacy
Society members, Keyack, Grossenbacher
and Smedley participated in move in day with their children who are
new students this year. All told, there were 70 new students this year
who were identified as Legacies.
